CRIMINALIZING CHRISTIANITY

CRIMINALIZING CHRISTIANITY

By Dr. Stephen Phinney

What is the next "big thing" on the horizon?

Not long ago I was threatened by a professor from a major university in Florida. He accused me of a "hate crime" for writing "conservative articles" on the Biblical difference between Muslims and Christians. His accusations continued, "you have the intent to teach a diverse difference in moral instruction as an ulterior motive." To that, I said, "guilty." He gave me one month to stop posting these "abusive writings," or he would turn me in for a hate crime. And to that, I said, "getter done."

Have you wondered why most people within our culture today could post their opinion without much kick back, but when a conservative Christian makes a statement, they are accused of a hate crime? The answer to this question is more disturbing than the problem itself. These are the beginnings of a new left-wing movement to "Criminalize Christianity."

Here is the big kicker!

Online surveys have noted that most of the threats of "hate crime" come from supposed Christians - those who self-proclaim a relationship with "god." Here is a classic example.

Back in April of 2019, "Christian" students went on a social posting rampage over Vice President Mike Pence's announcement that he would be speaking at Taylor University's commencement ceremony. Keeping in mind that our Vice President is known for being an outspoken Christian. A few thousand "Christians" signed a petition calling on the university to rescind its invitation – most posting petition comments over LGBT students being offended by his attendance. What happened to offending God over the LGBT moral demise?

If you think that criminalization of Christianity hasn't arrived in the Western world, well then, you might be more ignorant than you thought. Worst yet, are you one of these self-proclaimed professing "Christians" who is a champion of this movement?

The ideology of authentic Christianity is a criminal act is NOT new to our global community. Many countries have outlawed Christianity. Some countries punish Christians for going public with their beliefs. Most include prison sentences, with the ultimate goal of the penalty of death. Why would America be any different? Because we are a "Christian Nation?" You might want to rethink this erroneous belief!

The way you demoralize a country is by making use of its "rights."

Since America has the Constitutional guide of "religious freedom," all it takes is for a particular religion to infiltrate our nation, claim their new "rights" and embed their religious laws (rights) into the nation. It is that simple. These religions and their people are not violating America's "rights" – they are making use of them. Those of you who are under the illusion that America is a Christian nation, don't understand the objective of our founding fathers. Their Constitutional proclamation was not "freedom of Christianity," it was the "freedom of religion." I have copies of many of the private letters exchanged between Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin. In one of those letters, as they were constructing the verbiage for our important document, Mr. Jefferson wrote, "Our greatest challenge will be these obstinate Christians." Who were these "obstinate Christians?” They were none other than the followers of Roger Williams, a Puritan minister, theologian, and author who founded the Colony of Rhode Island. He was a staunch advocate for religious freedom for the people of their faith – founding members of the First Baptist Church, which was the first Baptist Church in America. To get this Baptist group far removed from their agenda, they gave Williams his territory – Rhode Island. Hoping it would satisfy his political message of religious freedom for the people of the Christian faith. With this newfound land, Williams established the Rhode Island’s Providence Plantations as a refuge for those Christians rejected by the mainstream "religious freedom" Masonic Christians, who were universalists. Soon an overpowering movement was birthed between the Mason "Christians" and the "obstinate Christians." That war exists to this day.

So there you have it. Nothing is new under the sun.

Today in mainstream Christianity, we see two primary groups – the "Christ followers" and those who still believe in the born-again experience. Our ministry calls this group evangelical indwelt Christians. Our ministry also refers to Christ followers as the Post-Truth church.

The war between authentic Christians and those who follow His teachings didn't start with our Mason forefathers, but instead, it began on the day of Jesus's ascension. It was on this day that Jesus made it clear that He must leave so that the Holy Spirit could descend upon the disciples for the "filling" of the Spirit of Christ – being born-again. It is not an accident that Christ followers delude the idea of the Holy Spirit living inside the believer. For if they were to admit to this, it would confess that Jesus would lead the culture by way of His Father's absolutes, which is the aggressive agenda & picket-points of our contemporary culture.

As a result of all this history, today, we have born-again believers labeled "conservative Christians" or "evangelical Christians," who are the leading group charged with "hate crimes." As to my critic in Florida, there IS an academic difference between "Christian" and the evangelical indwelt Christians. Christ followers mix Jesus into the culture, whereas the indwelt believers transform culture through the Life of Christ.

Understanding the false root doctrines of the Post-Truth church is imperative. Doing a "blow by" with this single doctrine will ignite the greatest cultural war we have seen to date within the "church." I am fairly certain that this movement, "criminalizing Christianity," provoked by "professing Christians," will be on most news feeds over the next ten+ years.

Recently I was in an online dialog with over 300,000 Christian business professionals, encouraging each to pray for Kamala Harris's need for salvation in Christ. One of the replies is worth quoting. "Well...I think that I read "salvation" means that she goes blind? If so, yes...Yes, I do!" I get this "professing Christian's" concern over Harris's politics but, the reply confesses a deeper issue. Jesus speaks a parable to them: "A blind man cannot guide a blind man, can he? Will they, not both fall into a pit? (Luke 6:39)

This passage is at the core of our topic. It is impossible to justify the blindness the Post-Truth church suffers. Their logic, rhetoric, philosophies & remarks are evidence of their blindness. Jesus went on to say, "A pupil is not above his teacher; but everyone, after he has been fully trained, will be like his teacher." (Luke 6:40) The question that you need to ask is, Is the Post-Truth church able to be trained? According to the finalities stated in the book of Revelation chapter 3, as for this lukewarm church as a whole, NO! So, what is a discipler in Christ to do? Reach for one lost soul at a time.

Picket-point Christians are mostly about issues in culture. True indwelt Christians are consumed over the lost souls of the picketers. Until true salvation occurs, plucking out sticks in the eyes of others remains repugnant.

"Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? "Or how can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,' when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother's eye." (Luke 6:41-42)

Who are these log bearers? False witnesses. Meaning, men and women who pretend to be of God - who delivered their "own" doctrines and opinions as to the truth of God, and who accommodated themselves to the desires of the people. A habit I might add that has been a problem since the days the first book of the Bible was written, the book of Job. I often wonder if Job's friends ever discovered the log in their own eyes. What we do know is their attempt to criminalize Job's firm stance on the absolutes of God the Father. Welcome to Job's ash pile!

By the way, I was turned in for a “hate crime.” After being interviewed by a top-level agent, it was determined that my writings were historically accurate and unusual as it may seem – they agreed wholeheartedly with my entries. From what I understand, all my writings are personally reviewed by this agency and made use of for training purposes. Credit where credit is due, the mind of Christ continues to have a voice in a depraved society.
